Who we are
Coach Kelvin Acosta is the owner and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Acosta Sports Performance Training.
Kelvin was born and raised in Miami, Florida, USA. He attended Miami Carol City and Dade Christian School where he competed in Track & Field and American Football. He helped lead Dade Christian to a FHSAA 2A State Championship Game appearance as a Senior in 2012.
Kelvin continued his American Football career at Trinity International University (TIU) while pursuing a Bachelors in Sports Wellness and a Minor in Business. At TIU, Kelvin gained invaluable insight into the field through internships with TIU’s Athletic Performance department, Florida International University and Bommarito Performance Systems (BPS). Following graduation, he accepted a full-time position with BPS.
While at BPS, he planned/instructed both individual and team training sessions for youth, collegiate, and professional athletes across all major sports. He was directly involved with the NFL & MLB Draft Prep, as well as the NFL & MLB Off-Season program which has successfully led hundreds of professional athletes being drafted or signed as undrafted free agents.
In 2019, Kelvin accepted a G.A position with William Penn University’s Athletic Performance department, pursuing a Master’s degree in Sports Management. He assisted with both Men and Women’s programs across all sports, and programmed the strength and conditioning procedures for Men’s Wrestling and Track & Field. Kelvin was also the Director of Athletic Performance for Pella High School and North Mahaska Junior- Senior School, where he coordinated/directed the entire athletic department’s strength and conditioning program for all four seasons.
In 2021, Kelvin accepted an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach position in D1 Sports Training in Dallas, Texas, USA. At D1, Kelvin was in charge of programming and training athletes of all levels, adults, university and professional level members in group training and personal training. At the facility, Kelvin trained various school and club-affiliated teams across multiple sports.
In 2022, Kelvin decided to move to Australia to be with his wife. Since then, Kelvin has been training athletes from multiple sport codes at Iron Strength.
Kelvin strives to unlock the untapped potential in athletes, helping them achieve their goals while creating life disciplines through training.
